Paper Punches — October 2026
2026-11-01
October was over in the blink of an eye. The month started with my birthday, and I went around the world for the 45th time. After more than a few late-night noises woke me over the past month. I read about the possibility of short-stroking a pump-action in stressful situations. While I had never personally done it in 333 shots at the range, my concern was that perhaps I could at a critical time. I was tempted by the Benelli M4, but its $1800-$2200 price tag was hard for me to wrap my mind around. One late night in September I came across a Berreta 1301 for a very reasonable price on gunbroker.com almost a month later I had a very late generation one 1301 of my very own. Much to my suprise it had the updated foreend and the pro-lifter that doesn't pinch your fingers when you load. I was pleasantly surprised. I had read that the break in period would be 50 rounds, and I had two jams during the break in. After a deep cleaning, and another 10 rounds I had one jam. Another cleaning and another ten rounds and it was flawless. The manual says that for it's best performacne, cleaning it after using it is ideal. While I had heard that the M4 can cycle 2k rounds without cleaning it, I also heard that the 1301 was just good if not better for the consumer market for a much more favorable price. I ended up going with an Airdus Magpul 590 adapter in FDE (which didn't look much like FDE to me, but they assured me it was) The Magpull SGA stock in FDE, the GG&G Magpul Zhukov adapter, with the Langdon tactical heat shield with the Streamlight large pressure pad adapter. I no longer have to worry about short-stroking the shotgun in stressful situations.

2020 Rimfire: Really liked this bolt action. cheap 22lr is all over the place in terms of quality. This rifle didn't have any issues with the cheap ammo i generally shoot.
